Visibility Tools by Cloud Provider

Each major cloud provider ships native cost management tools: AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management + Billing, and GCP Cloud Billing Reports. Third-party platforms (CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability, etc.) aggregate multi-cloud data into a single view. Exam scenarios test whether you know the capability of each category—not which tool to choose by brand.

Capabilities to Know

  • Cost Explorer / Cost Analysis: visualize spend trends, filter by service/account/tag, forecast future spend.
  • Budgets and alerts: set spend thresholds and trigger notifications when actuals or forecasts exceed them.
  • Tag-based reports: attribute costs to teams, products, or cost centers via resource tags.
  • Reserved Instance / Savings Plan utilization reports: measure commitment coverage and identify unused capacity.
  • Third-party platforms: normalize data across clouds, support custom allocation rules, and provide executive dashboards.

Dashboard Design by Persona

FinOpsDecode Rule

The best dashboard is the one that prompts the right action from the right person at the right time.
